Whether it’s your first time standing on a board or you’re an avid paddler looking for a new challenge, Lahaina Surf Shack stand up paddle instructors are ready to create a lesson suited to your needs. Our stand up paddle lessons are really one of a kind. Lahaina Surf Shack SUP lessons take place inside a protective reef making it the ideal spot for SUP in most conditions. All SUP lessons are 90 min beginning with a beach lesson followed by paddling.
At Lahaina Surf Shack we are adamant about providing a one of a kind experience and for this reason, all SUP lessons are capped with a ratio of no more than 4 students to one instructor. Early mornings SUP lessons are encouraged to take advantage of the best conditions possible. We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons.
Start with the basics on the board. We get you familiar with your footing, balance and how to paddle with proper form and efficiency. We will challenge you as we work within your level of comfort in the water.
For those of you who have taken a lesson or two, and want to advance your knowledge and ability on the paddle board. For intermediate paddlers we also offer our newest activity that combines snorkeling and stand up paddling all in one. We will cruise around the inner reefs and progress towards the outer reefs stopping to explore the reefs and marine life along the way. If ready, we may even try to catch a wave.
Will take you out to the waves! We will teach you how to paddle out through waves, advanced turns, and timing and speed required to catch and ride the waves on the stand up paddle board. We will work our way out to the outer sets as we get more comfortable on the boards.
Take your yoga practice out onto our beautiful Maui ocean. Join Tenya, from (10yaYoga), and experienced water women Aina and Chyna, from LahAina Surf Shack every Thurday at 8am in Lahaina for this community based paddleboard and yoga class. Let these experienced specialists integrate ocean safety, basic paddleboarding skills, and a mindful yoga practice. This class will combine basic yoga asanas poses, for culitivating strength, balance, and core stability. Located at our Ohana Yoga Shala, at Shark Pit beach, this class incorporates conscious connection to nature, and the elements of water. Paddleboard yoga keeps you in the present moment, gives you a sense of mindfulness, body awareness, proper breath control, and relaxation techniques. Enjoy the "aloha" vibe with panoramic views of our beautiful island, a sense of well being, and the wonders of our ocean and its natural rhythms.
